![]() ![]() Got Logic as I needed to do more composition and midi based sequencing and it had great instruments and plug ins included so I used it from Version 7-9. Then I used Pro Tools as I wanted to freelance out of bigger commercial rooms. Almost got Studio Vision Pro right before it was killed by Gibson. I hate exporting and importing sessions - it's a big waste of time, loses lots of useful information, etc. Otherwise the hassle of exporting / importing overwhelms any small advantage I can see in some other DAW over Live. The only reason I ever think about exporting and importing sessions is to work with other musicians / engineers who are using a different platform. If I were to sack Logic altogether I'd get some kind of dedicated sheet music software again, but it seems like overkill for the kind of sheets I usually prepare. Since I have it I sometimes use it to prepare sheet music, although I've used other software for that as well, it's not really a DAW function as I see it. We have a lot of old sessions in Logic, so we have to keep it around. I get all the commands in my muscle memory and get marinated in the workflow, and it bogs me down and makes me conscious of the silly DAW to switch between them, so I try hard not to do it. I use Ableton Live exclusively for any project where I have a choice (i.e., my own music or things I record/produce for others where they don't care what DAW I use).
